Meet Melinda!

Hi, I’m Melinda — the Teacher Behind Play With Purpose Learning

My Story: I’m a preschool teacher and director with 11 years of real classroom experience designing purposeful, play-based learning for young children ages 3–6. My background as a Special Education paraprofessional for grades K–8 gave me a deep understanding of diverse learners — which is why every resource I create is designed with differentiation built in, so all children can access meaningful, joyful learning through play.

My greatest credential, however, happens every single morning — when former students who have moved on to kindergarten and beyond still come find me first to say hello. Those moments remind me exactly why I do this work.

My Philosophy: Early childhood classrooms are under increasing pressure to push academics earlier and earlier — but young children learn about the world through play, exploration, curiosity, and hands-on discovery, not worksheets. Play With Purpose Learning was created to bridge the gap between what the system demands and what children truly need. Every resource I create is intentionally designed to honor how young children actually develop while still meeting the academic expectations teachers and parents face today. Because purposeful play isn’t the opposite of learning. It is learning.

Who This Is For: Whether you’re a preschool teacher, kindergarten teacher, parent, or homeschooler — if you believe children learn best when they’re curious, engaged, and having fun, you’re in the right place. Across my resources you’ll find activities that span cognitive development, sensory exploration, fine motor skills, early literacy, math, and social-emotional growth — intentionally designed for real classrooms and real children.
